Spanish Lesson Fourteen: Food and Dining

This week has gone by so fast. It's like I nearly forget when Sunday gets here!! We're on Lesson Fourteen this week and they're designed to help you, the reader, learn Spanish "A Little At A Time".You can learn as fast or as slow as you'd like without feeling like a show off or a dumb dumb lol. Some of you are stumbling upon this for the first time, while the rest of you are a returning reader. Welcome back if you've been here before and WELCOME if it's your first time time. Last week we discussed Spanish Adverbs and saying What You Are Going To Do. If you'd like to review that lesson before moving on, click here. In today's lesson we will be discussing vocabulary and phrases pertaining to Food and Dining. Sounds fun right?

Previous Lessons

Today we are discussing Food and Dining. So that means our vocabulary will consist of how to specify what eating and drinking utensil you're using, what type of food, what type of meal, etc. Take a look at the vocabulary below.

Nouns

Breakfast: El Desayuno

Lunch: El Almuerzo

Dinner: La Cena

Milk: La Leche

Cheese: El Queso

Plate: El Plato

Fork: El Tenedor

Knife: El Cuchillo

Glass: El Vaso

Note: This is a very generic list and is far from complete. If you wish to learn more words, you can do your own research. Also there is a possibility that this subject will be revisited in the future with greater detail

Revisit the vocabulary above and practice pronouncing those words and remembering their gender. Also remind yourself of the plural versions of the words if needed. Consider what other words you would like to know how to say.

Also a good tip, go back to previous lessons and revisit the conjugation of -Er verbs. You will need to remember to be able to conjugate Comer which means "to eat". Look here.

Enjoying a meal is the most awesome thing ever! I love eating dinner and having a good time with different people. Below I want to discuss some phrases that are common when dining.

¿Qué hay para la cena? What is there for dinner?

¿El restaurante es barato o caro? The restaurant is cheap or expensive?

Those are two common questions people will ask. If you wish to differentiate between meals, substitute Cena with other meals. Also it's good to know other things like asking how things taste and how much they cost. A future lesson will be added to accommodate these things. To leave this lesson a bit shorter, I will omit other things that can be an added to future lessons.Keep that in mind.

Host/Hostess: El Mesenero/ La Mesenera

Restaurant Manager: El Jefe De La Restaurante

Your homework for today is to view a video based off of Lesson Eleven: Saying What You Have To Do. This video will help you repeat discussing obligation in Spanish. Senorbelles is so awesome at what he does and makes me proud! So take a look at his review!! He also uses Hay + Que +inf. as well. We'll discuss that later, but feel free to listen to Senor Belle's discussion.
